Turtles are long-lived and are sensitive to water quality and pollution, which makes them indicators and predictors of the overall health of the ecosystem.

NCC’s Aviation Technology program features an intensive, 21-month curriculum covering a wide range of topics including reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel systems, propellers, ignition, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. According to James Mitchell, the Aviation Technology program coordinator at NCC and a veteran who served at Pease, an operating aircraft is essential to provide training opportunities that an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) student mechanic needs to attain a certificate or license.

This spring, the college installed an Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulator system and ramped up the new curriculum. The program trains candidates for ATC positions and is the only one of its kind in NH. There is a similar program in New York, and one is being launched in Maine. The FAA is currently facing a shortage of about 3,000 air traffic controllers.
