
NASHUA, NH – A Nashua woman was arrested Jan. 30 in connection with the Aug. 21, 2024, shooting at Sullivan Park.
Nashua Police Department on Thursday arrested Marielita Torres, 33, of Nashua, on a felony warrant for riot, attempted second degree assault (deadly weapon), reckless conduct (deadly weapon), and criminal threatening (deadly weapon); all Class B felonies.

On August 21, 2024, the Nashua Police Department responded to the area of Sullivan Park for the report of a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located a male on the ground who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The male, Alexander Rivera Aponte, was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Officers were able to speak with witnesses and involved parties who advised there was a fight between two groups. During the fight, there were several gunshots heard.
Detectives with the Special Investigations Division were assigned to further the investigation. Detectives learned that Torres and Aponte made plans to confront a group of juveniles at Sullivan Park. A fight ensued at Sullivan Park, and at least two separate guns had been fired. Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant charging Torres with the above listed charges.
Torres was held on no bail pending her arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court, which was held on January 31, 2025.
