Week in Sports(11/4-11/10): Three Nashua teams eliminated, one plays on

NASHUA, NH – While two Gate City teams clashed on the gridiron, another Nashua team almost accomplished something no other team has in the last five years and a third team’s Cinderella run came to an end on the soccer pitch. Now, there’s only one Nashua fall sports team still competing in the postseason.


Girls Soccer

Division-I tournament quarterfinals

No. 8 Nashua North 0, No. 4 Winnacunnet 3 (11/5/24)

The Nashua High School North soccer team earned an overtime victory over rival Nashua South to open the playoffs before upsetting top-ranked Bishop Guertin days later. The Titans magical postseason run, however, came to an end on Tuesday, Nov. 5 against fourth-ranked Winnacunnet when they fell, 3-0, at in the semifinals hosted at Manchester Memorial High School. Division-I tournament semifinals

No. 4 Bishop Guertin 2, No. 1 Bedford 3 (11/7/24)

The upstart Bishop Guertin girls volleyball team gave top-ranked Bedford perhaps its strongest challenge in the last five seasons. Though the fourth-ranked Cardinals ran out of steam in the deciding fifth set, they pushed the undefeated, four-time defending champs right to the finish before falling, 3-2. Read more.

Division-I tournament first round

No. 6 Nashua South 59, No. 11 Bishop Guertin 26 (11/8/24)

The sixth-ranked Nashua High School South football team took the short trek to Souhegan High School in Amherst and put on a scoring clinic against No. 11 Bishop Guertin Friday night.

The Purple Panthers advanced to the state quarterfinals where they’re currently scheduled to face third-ranked Londonderry at 1 p.m. Saturday.
