NASHUA, NH – United Way of Greater Nashua (UWGN) has been selected for a second year as a Microsoft TechSpark Fellow. Sara Ceaser, Director of Volunteer and Community Engagement at UWGN, will continue to serve as the TechSpark Fellow, leading efforts to address critical challenges in tech access and digital literacy across the Greater Nashua region.
Building on the success of the pilot year, during which the groundwork was laid for several innovative initiatives, the second year of the fellowship focuses on implementation and leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency and impact of these programs.
With the support of Microsoft’s TechSpark program, UWGN is advancing several community-centered initiatives:
- Tech Help United Program: Launching after January 1, 2024, this program will provide one-on-one support to help individuals navigate digital tools and access essential online services. Session locations will be posted on the United Way of Greater Nashua website.
- Promoting Free Digital Literacy Classes: UWGN is compiling and sharing a comprehensive list of free digital literacy classes offered by partner organizations to help community members improve their technology skills.
- Tech Access for All Summit: Scheduled for March 2024 at Nashua Community College, this summit will bring together local leaders, technology advocates, and experts to explore solutions for expanding tech access. Registration details and session information will be announced soon.
- Laptop Distribution Program: UWGN is distributing approximately 10 laptops weekly to individuals in need, ensuring they have the tools required for work, education, telehealth, and staying connected. Many laptops have been distributed to individuals in the recovery community.
- Greater Nashua Digital Equity Coalition: Since its inception in January 2024, this coalition has been a driving force behind these initiatives, fostering collaboration to address tech access challenges in the region.
