A candidate for Governor, a big city Mayor two housing advocates, an Executive Council candidate, a State Senator, and a State representative walk into an apartment building. This sounds like a setup for a joke but it was an actual event to highlight the serious issues of affordable housing facing New Hampshire.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joyce Craig and  Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess met with the team from  NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire (NWSNH) to tour the new apartment building at 249 Main Street

He does not just run for pleasure or competition.  He often runs to effect positive change. In 2018 he ran the 5,425 miles from California to New Hampshire to support the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. He has raised over $600,000 for charitable causes with his runs.

On Thursday morning he will step into his running shoes once again and depart Nashua on his next charity run. Gregg will begin an 8-day 230-mile run from Nashua to Pittsburgh, NH to support  NH Hunger Solutions (NHHS).

The 4th annual Paige Parkinson Food Drive will be held this Saturday, October 5, at Greeley Park in Nashua from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The event honors the life of Nashua native, Paige Parkinson, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in June 2021. All proceeds are donated to the Nashua Soup Kitchen.

New Hampshire’s annual Fall ritual, the 2024 Deerfield Fair is underway this weekend. Judging by the crowds who came in droves today and the forecast for perfect fall weather for the weekend this may turn out to be a banner year for the fair.

The fair will be open Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 8 am to 10 pm. This will be the last two days of this year’s edition of the historic agricultural fair.

Republican candidate Kelly Ayotte, Democratic candidate Joyce Craig, and Libertarian candidate Stephen Villee took the stage at the Event Center by Marriot to discuss the issues facing the Granite State.

Nashua nonprofit, The Thank You Project, held its 9th annual Water Walk Saturday. More than 100 walkers marched over two miles from Greeley Park to the bank of the Nashua River downtown and back to raise funds for the group.  This year they surpassed last year’s total of $7,000 raising more than $10,000.

Citing the importance of small businesses in the economy and their job-generating capacity she announced a proposed plan of tax incentives for start-ups.  Currently, a new business can deduct  $5,000 in start-up expenses.  She called for a tenfold increase to a $50,000 deduction and a reduction in red tape to incentivize new business formation.
