…Maybe it’s because my father was a civil engineer and I heard so many stories about roads and bridges.  But whatever the reason is, if I can get somewhere by highway, but there’s an alternate route, I take the alternate route.

During the 1881 fiscal year, there was a total of 580 arrests, the majority, 238 or 41%, were for public intoxication. Given that police didn’t yet have to deal with traffic, and the city was still rather compact, they dealt with what would be considered today rather odd offenses; such as robbing gardens (8), reckless driving (probably horse carriages) (2), pickpockets (2), turning cattle at large on the highway (1), and placing decayed fish near a public street (1) along with a host of other crimes.

Sometimes the simplest things can make life so much easier.  I was having problems with a document at work, and when I was asking a colleague for advice, she showed me how to make my text cursor bigger and a color other than white. Wow!  It blew my mind – it was just so much easier to highlight a field in a Google spreadsheet when you actually know what you are pointing to.  It has made a huge difference in my daily work life.

Music can move you, save you, and I’m here to testify to that. And before I’m crucified for my taste in music, it’s worth noting that mostly (not all the time, but mostly) the style or genre doesn’t matter.

The camp was called Bement Center Camp, and it was an Episcopal church camp, located in Charlton, Massachusetts.  (When I got old enough to drive I was surprised to find out how close Charlton was to Auburn.  It was such a magical place to me, and the anticipation was so great the drive seemed to take hours.  It was only 30 minutes.) Every year Pat and I spent two glorious weeksat Bement.
