Knowing the impact poetry and the arts has had in her own life, Hoey wishes to bring that to her community through the creation of a poet laureate position in Nashua. With the help of friends Sheila Caron and Colleen Shea, Hoey submitted a proposal to the Nashua Arts Commission.

The piles of white marble chips, clouds of stone dust, and the whirring of grinders are all signs that the 2024 Nashua International Sculpture Symposium (NISS) is moving fast out of the gate. Monday was the first full day of carving and the guest artists are making initial progress on the pieces.
