NASHUA, NH – On Friday May 2, Nashua Fire Rescue Recruit Class 251 graduation ceremony was held at Nashua Fire Rescue headquarters. Colin Prescott, Christopher Tolentino, Stephen Michele, Benjamin Niemiera, and Joshua Walmsley were sworn in to their new positions as firefighters by Chief of Department Steve M. Buxton.
The group of five Nashua firefighters trained with experienced firefighters during an intense period of training. New recruits are required to be certified firefighters who have completed firefighter 1 and 2 certifications as well as being certified basic level EMTs before they join the department. Once they join Nashua Fire Rescue, they train for a six-week period of time, receiving instruction in the classroom, doing physical fitness exercises, and receiving important hands-on training that is more focused on Nashua Fire Rescue operations.
In addition, Nashua Fire Rescue’s newest Fire Alarm Operators: Adam Garthe and Greg Nolan were sworn in by Chief of Department Steve M. Buxton. The Fire Alarm Operators work within the Fire Alarm Division and as part of a team to manage the emergency communications for Nashua Fire Rescue.
