NASHUA, NH – On Jan. 21 the New Hampshire Underground held a grand reopening event to celebrate the relaunch of a community performance and arts space. They formerly operated as the Midnight Creative Collective and this event was the first held under the new brand.

Founder and operator Eleanor Luna describes it as a micro-entertainment complex with artist workspaces, musician jam rooms, a lounge area, a podcast studio, and gallery display spaces.  It also features a performance space and music club they call Terminus Underground. They are located in an old industrial building at 134 Haines St.

The music club is a feature of New Hampshire Underground but not its primary function.  The group acts more as a musician and artist collective. Luna said they operate much like a gym. They provide equipment and skilled training to their members. Members can use the space to hone their skills, learn to operate as professional artists and performers, and collaborate with their peers.

Says Luna, who has a background as a musician and in marketing, “We are a musicians and artists community first. We also mentor and coach musicians and artists looking to get to the next level in their careers.”  They have a tiered membership plan designed for all skill levels and a range of professional experience,

Luna is bullish on the Nashua music scene, saying, “I think it’s awesome. I think it’s really burgeoning, and we have a lot of talent in the city alone. For me, right now, I think putting this together is the answer to a lot of people’s frustration with the Performing Arts Center.  So people who are my age and younger and the alternative people, who won’t be able to perform there, now have a home here.”

Andre Dumont a professional musician, manages the performance space and teaches musicians the business of music. He invites emerging musicians and artists to come to learn about the group and to see how they could fit into the community.

He is proud to show off the Terminus Underground performance room pointing out the level of professional sound and lighting gear they are equipped with. The equipment and technical staff are just like those found in professional venues. Members starting in the business who have not acquired similar gear get to learn in a pro setting.

The group will regularly host community gatherings and performances open to the public.

When asked what people can expect when they come to the Terminus Underground shows, Dumont said, “I want them to know that there’s a place that they can go to experience, absolutely what the feeling of music should be. The environment. The sound. The performances. The intimacy. The atmosphere. It’s all part of the connection that we’ve lost somehow. This is a place where I want people to, actually experience live music… Like, it’s in your face and it’s really good.”
