NASHUA, NH – If you’re looking for your tax bill, you didn’t miss it; it hasn’t been mailed just yet.
On Thursday the city released the following announcement, saying the delay is due to a yet-to-be filed but necessary school district form:
The Superintendent of the Nashua School District has informed the Mayor’s Office that the School Department has not yet been able to file its Form DOE-25 with the New Hampshire Department of Education. The delayed Form DOE-25 will result in a delay in the determination of the Nashua tax rate by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration and a delay in the mailing of Nashua tax bills.
Form DOE-25 is a school financial report that must be reviewed and accepted by the New Hampshire Department of Education. The School Department must prepare and file Form DOE-25 before the City can generate the necessary Form MS-25 and file it with the Department of Revenue Administration. These steps are required before the New Hampshire DRA can set the official Nashua tax rate.
Due to this delay, the City does not anticipate receiving the official tax rate from the DRA until after Thanksgiving. As a courtesy for planning purposes, the City estimates the new rate to be between $15.90 and $16.00, though this is subject to change.
The City of Nashua expects to be able to issue and send tax bills in mid-December with a due date in mid-January. While this will have no impact on the tax rate setting itself, the City wants to inform residents of the change in the expected issuance and due dates of their tax bills.
