Gymnastics

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Nashua South’s girls gymnastics team, and individuals from Nashua North, competed at a meet hosted by Windham High School at A2 Gym & Cheer in Salem.  Results as follows:

South

South finished with a 111.15 team score, including multiple individual successes and improvements.

The Purple Panthers had two all-around gymnasts who performed in all four events, senior Renee Glidden and junior Binita Rana, the latter’s first all-around opportunity of the season.

Glidden’s all-around score of 31.1 was her best mark of the last two years, including season best marks on beam and floor.

Senior Ryenne Georgianna had her best competition of the season so far with significantly improved scores on vault and floor, and also debuted her bar routine, said her coach, Nicole Hembrow.

Junior Abbey Herbert had her best vault performance of the season with an improved score on her half-and-half off vault, and Rana debuted her front handspring on vault, while providing consistent routines for bars and beam and improving her floor score, said Hembrow.

Sophomores Nina Somorrostro and Sophie Collins both had a good meet and have been performing their routines consistently, making small adjustments and adding new skills to boost start values, added their coach.

Freshman Maddie LaFleur received her best score of the season on beam, and is also working to add vault to her competition line-up too.

“With South being a smaller team, I am very encouraged by the many individual successes by the South gymnasts,” said Hembrow. “The season is winding down fast but we will continue to make alterations and improvements where appropriate with the goal to continue to boost team scores as well as individual event and all-around scores.”

North

Sophomore Ashlynn Hall competed in three events: vault, beam, and floor. She received her second highest floor score of the season and tied for her best score of the season on vault.

Junior Lynnlee Davis continued to improve with her routines on balance beam and floor and tied her best score of the season on beam and matched her second best score of the season on floor.

Freshman Allison Tarbox, has shown consistency on beam in this, her third high school meet, said her coach, Karen Boccia.

South and North next compete Friday, Jan. 24 at Keene.
