Dealers in training will earn wages after first two weeks.
NASHUA, NH – ECL Entertainment will open a free Dealer School at The River Casino, 53 High St. in Nashua. The enterprise will be dedicated to training new and existing employees of The River and The Nash on all traditional and electronic table games as well as brand new games that will only be offered at The Nash. Gaming and restaurant operations will cease at The River effective Wednesday, Nov. 27, and the new Dealer School will begin operating on Monday, Dec. 2. The Lucky Moose will remain in full operation.
“We appreciate The River’s presence downtown since 2016, the benefits it created for the community and several charities and the support it received. As a training center, the facility will continue contributing to Nashua, in a different though equally important way,” said The Nash General Manager Eric Althaus. “As we streamline our business operations and create hundreds of jobs in the region, we intend to operate The Nash and The Lucky Moose in different ways with different opportunities for our patrons, and in doing so we will be able to partner with many more nonprofit organizations in the state.”
The River’s current employees will continue to be employed either at the Dealer School or one of the other charitable gaming venues in Nashua operated by ECL Entertainment. All approved and qualified nonprofit organizations that were partnering with The River will be transitioned to The Lucky Moose at 16 Gusabel Ave. in Nashua until The Nash opens.
ECL Entertainment operates The Lucky Moose Casino & Tavern (The Lucky Moose), The River Casino & Sports Bar (The River) and The Nash Casino (The Nash).
Currently under construction at the former Sears building at the Pheasant Lane Mall, The Nash is anticipated to open later this winter. It will create 600 to 700 career-launching jobs, including about 150 new dealers, contributing $22 million annually in payroll and related costs. ECL is also committed to promoting from within to fill many of its management positions, upskilling those managers and helping them build meaningful careers in the entertainment and hospitality industry.
After the first two weeks of an eight-week dealer training program, dealer trainees will begin earning a wage while they train. Applicants must be 18 years or older, pass a criminal background check and be eligible to obtain a New Hampshire Lottery Commission Gaming Badge. The training is free of cost to students.
The Nash recently held three career fairs for experienced managers, experienced dealers, general applicants and area Veterans at the Courtyard by Marriott at 2200 Southwood Drive in Nashua, and will hold another one for general applicants on Tuesday, December 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

When complete, The Nash will be the largest charitable gaming venue in New Hampshire, representing a nearly $250 million investment into the city of Nashua and approximately $24 million in annual contributions for over 100 New Hampshire-based nonprofits. It will feature three unique restaurant concepts, including casual and fine dining and a 100-seat, three-meal café called Woodlands Café, a two-story sports entertainment complex with two full bars, assorted non-gambling games and a wide variety of table games and HHR machines.
