Dear Editor,

As a Nashua Ward 1 resident and gun violence prevention advocate in New Hampshire I was dismayed to see that SuzAnne-Marie Rak, a Democratic Primary candidate running for State Representative in my ward had received an A rating from a no compromise New Hampshire gun group. No compromise means No to gun free school zones. No to closing background check loopholes. No to waiting periods. No to red flag laws. No to stronger secure gun storage laws. No to reasonable measures to reduce gun violence.

Guns are currently the leading cause of death of children and teens in the United States. In June the US Surgeon General, Dr Vivek Murthy declared gun violence a public health crisis. We need to vote for candidates who recognize this reality and will work to support strong gun safety laws. My children are graduates of the Nashua School District and inescapable members of the lockdown generation. Our children deserve better. They deserve to thrive and grow in safe schools and communities.

On Tuesday, September 10th, I will be voting for the Nashua Ward 1 Democratic candidates who have received the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction, Susan Elberger, Heather Raymond and Dale Swanson. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. Their distinction is given to candidates who have demonstrated that they will support stronger gun laws and advocate for safer communities.

Please join me and vote for Democrats Susan Elberger, Heather Raymond and Dale Swanson in the Nashua Ward 1 Primary Election on September 10th.

Deidre Reynolds
