“What a great reading year Nashua had! We read nearly 44,000 more books than last year,” library director Jennifer McCormack said. “The top 10 most borrowed books show that we love reading about people (especially women) succeeding and thriving despite hardships, and suspenseful crime stories.
“It’s a huge transformative time for people and we’re not meant to do it alone,” doula Allison Morgan said of the postpartum period. “We’re meant to do it as a village and as a community.”
Best-selling author Stephen Puleo will talk about his new book, The Great Abolitionist: Charles Sumner, at the Friends Annual Meeting in November.
NH Library Trustees Association Honors NPL for Outstanding Year of Innovation, Collaboration, and Community Impact NASHUA, NH – The Nashua
The Nashua Public Library received a $10,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to bring expanded voter services to Nashua residents.
“I think of the Library of Things as one more way that the library is helping community members reach their personal goals in an affordable and sustainable way,” said Library Director Jennifer McCormack. “Customers can “try before they buy” or borrow items they might only need for special occasions, like our LED projector or puppet theater,” said McCormack.
On Saturday the Nashua Public Library (NPL) in partnership with the Indian Association of New Hampshire ( IANH) presented the PASSPORT TO INDIA event. This Passport event is one in a continuing series presented by NPL.
Personnel from the Nashua Public Library, Nashua school district and Public Health and Community Services went before the Ad Hoc Capital/Debt Committee to present their upcoming projects, plans and needs.
“[My platform] is called ¡Cuéntame!, which for Spanish-speaking people is like [saying] ‘hey, what’s up? Tell me,’” Medina said of the Spanish word that translates to ‘story me’.
“I came to it with my daughter’s help,” she added. “She said ‘how about cuéntame? Story me’ … and it gave me an immediate, sort of poetic image of story me, cover me in story, fill me with stories. It completely seemed to me how the very young would hear the word cuéntame.”
After discussion and comments from the public, the Board of Aldermen voted 8-4 not to pass a resolution that would propose an amendment to the city charter to have the Library Board of Trustees be elected instead of appointed.
