Cause of Bridge Street Laundromat fire investigated

One firefighter suffered a minor injury to his hand.

NASHUA, NH – Nashua Fire Rescue received a call for a reported fire in the Laundromat at 31 Bridge Street Saturday.

Firefighters in route to the call could see smoke showing before they arrived at about 8:22 a.m. 

On arrival Engine 4 reported smoke showing from a  single-story commercial building. Crews stretched 2 hose lines into the Laundromat area of the building and extinguished the fire. 

Ladder 1 conducted a search of the building to make sure all occupants were out, Ladder 1 performed horizontal and vertical ventilation. Ladder 2 conducted a search in the attached 2 1/2 story wood frame and removed all residents from the apartments.

Liberty Utilities and Eversource responded to the scene to shut off utilities, Nashua Police assisted with traffic control in the area of the fire.

The fire was contained to the Laundromat, however smoke traveled into the attached residence. 

One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury to his hand, no other injuries were reported at the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office.
