The Senate Finance Committee voted on Tuesday, June 3, to adopt final versions of its amendments to the House’s version of the State Budget. The House passed its expenditure proposal for the next two fiscal years on April 10, and the Senate is due to vote on its proposal on Thursday, June 5. The Senate Finance Committee’s proposal would spend more than the House’s recommendations, but less than the budget put forward by the Governor in February.

New Hampshire revenue collections for the month of October continued to rely primarily on interest from State cash holdings to generate a surplus relative to the State Budget’s targeted amount for the month. Key State revenue sources, including combined business taxes and the Meals and Rentals Tax, fell short of their monthly targets, while others aligned with or exceeded the planned amounts for the month.

In 2023, about 60.2 percent of Granite Staters were covered by private insurance only, including those who received coverage through their employer, purchased their insurance directly, or were beneficiaries of Tricare or another type of private military coverage. Employer-based coverage remained the largest type of health insurance coverage in the state, with more than half (52.8 percent) of the state’s population receiving coverage only through their employer.
