NASHUA, NH — A frantic search for a lost boy ended around 6 p.m. when the boy was found safe on a trail in the woods.

Nashua police, firefighters, and AMR ambulance responded to Sandy Pond Wednesday to search for Cameron Holcomb, a 9-year-old boy who was reported missing by his family.

Police immediately sent out a citywide alert via phone reporting that a search was on.

The boy’s father reportedly found the boy’s clothing at the pond’s edge, where people frequently swim. The Nashua Fire Dive Team came to the scene with boats and dive equipment at 4:45 p.m. after a call reporting a possible drowning at Sandy Pond.

The area’s playground and dock, as well as the street, were closed off with crime scene tape to keep large groups of people away who had heard about the search. Nashua police launched a drone into the area to search while divers were in the water. Police also sent officers to the area of the child’s residence and searched the residence and surrounding area.

Just before 6 p.m., the child was found safe on a trail in Mine Falls. Initial information at the scene indicated he was at the pond and had moved to another location.

Nashua District Chief Michael Curran said divers had entered the water and began searching when they were notified that the child had been located.
