I inadvertently shared an event happening in Nashua, Iowa, on social media, which got me curious about the other Nashua.
While some of you may be up to speed on this, it was news to me. Nashua, Iowa, population 1,508, was so named because Ed and Charles Greeley (yes, those Greeleys) went to Iowa and decided to pay homage to their hometown when it was learned that the current name of the city at that time, Woodbridge, was aleready taken.
In 2005 our Nashua produced a proclammation on the occasion of the other Nashua's sesquecentennial. You can read it here.
If you look at our two cities on a map you'll see it's a pretty straight shot - we're just about perfectly aligned if you connected the dots. That's pretty cool.
I haven't figured out yet if they have an active newspaper but I am going to see what I can find out and maybe we can do an occasional news exchange - if ever there were a "sister city" I think this is it!

Today will have partial sunshine with high humidity and hazy skies due to wildfire smoke. The temperature will reach 85 degrees, but it will feel like 87.

In Chicago, Vice President Harris will make clear that the stakes of this election couldn’t be higher – our fundamental freedoms, democracy, and future are at stake. Granite Staters from all walks of life are rallying behind the Vice President. I know I’ll continue to organize and mobilize for the Harris-Walz ticket every day until this election, because as the Vice President says: When we fight, we win!

Summer is a time of fun, vacations, and freedom from classrooms for kids. For many of Nashua's children, it can also be a time of hunger and greater food insecurity. When school cafeterias close, kids miss meals.

Story Produced by For years, teacher pay in New Hampshire has remained low, with new teachers facing average salaries of $41,590. And for years, Democrats, teachers unions, and other advocates have urged increased state investment in public schools to direct money to teacher salaries. This year, Republicans are raising their own concerns about low teacher salaries. But conservatives see a …
