I'm trying to eat healthy. Really.
I've consumed more beets and beet greens, more non-fat yogurt and nuts, more fruit and home-baked kale chips and oatmeal of late than I have in most other phases of my life, if you smooshed my life together like a block of tofu in need of draining.
Yes, it feels good to make good food choices. No, I still cannot resist a big fat soft pretzel at the pub - with pub cheese, and those bubbly drinks they serve at pubs called beer, the soul-soothing elixir of my German foremothers.
I am not sure at what cost I continue to backslide. Will my recessive yet somehow dominant dirty eating habits rob me of more than a few "good years"? Do I want a few good years if they are void of beer and pretzels? If I remain noble will I live a year or two longer and die peacefully in my sleep because my body is tired and not because my veins are clogged with pub cheese?
I have no idea. But I'm here to say the struggle is real. Or as my hubby says, "Live your life. You just gotta get up out of your chair and move."
And I don't think he means in the direction of a pub stool where the pub cheese is waiting next to a hot plate of soft pretzels.
Happy Lazy Sunday. Eat your greens.

The bag is still hanging on in my maple. I am pretty sure I’ll outlast it, but now, instead of just planning on outlasting it, I am researching what I can do about it. I prefer action.
