PUBLISHER'S CORNER

As we approach Veterans Day I hope you are taking some time to read our special In Service to America series by Gary Ledoux. Today you get two installments, as there was a little glitch in the Matrix yesterday. And on Monday we will wrap up with the final installment.

Gary's series has been refreshing to me as the stories capture the essence of military service for the young men from Nashua who served. The stories are not full of high military drama, like a Spielberg movie. They simply portray what it was like to step outside one's self as a young man in Nashua, ship off to serve one's country, and then return and find a way back into the mix. Just because it sounds that easy, it wasn't. And between the lines, all veterans carry with them a measure of personal sacrifice and stress they don't often unpack.

So two things: If you haven't yet read through them, check out one of today's installments - all the rest are linked at the end of each post. Secondly, take some time over the weekend to do a little research on your own about our history as a country and connect with the many men, women and families who have done their duty, in service to America.

'Fraudster' who stole $73K from suicide prevention non-profit for veterans sentenced to federal prison

'Fraudster' who stole $73K from suicide prevention non-profit for veterans sentenced to federal prison
“The defendant is a recidivist fraudster who used a sophisticated scheme to steal money intended to help vulnerable veterans,” said U.S. Attorney Young.  “He spent the stolen money on items like a cruise, landscaping at his home and OnlyFans.com.  His brazen criminal conduct was compounded by the fact that he stole from a program dedicated to preventing veteran suicides. Today’s sentence should be a warning to others that stealing from veterans will not be tolerated and will result in incarceration.”
