NASHUA, NH – The Nashua Area Artists Association (NAAA) held its 71st annual art show at  Greeley Park this weekend. Artist from New Hampshire and around New England set up their tents and booths on the lawn of Nashua’s venerable park for this long-time summer tradition.

The show also includes two art competitions one for adults and one for kids ages 5-19.  The association held a silent auction and raffle to support their program of art scholarships.  Dozens of local area businesses and artists contributed to the raffle drawing prizes.

According to Jacqueline Barry, Co-Director of NAAA, this show featured 52 artists and 2 scholarship artists displaying their work. This year’s show is larger than last year’s. “We did pretty well this year recruiting and getting artists to sign up.”  she said.

For Barry, this year is the 15th year of her working the show. Commenting on the show she said, “A lot of people came back every year to see the same artist. It is almost like an old home week all the artists get to see each other after not seeing each other since the previous year.”

“Out of 50-something artists, there is not a duplicate, everyone is unique.  Everybody is separately creative.  You will not find two pieces that even come close to each other.  That is what is so amazing about this show. “

On Saturday Mother Nature cooperated and there was a steady stream of art lovers making the rounds of the show.  Sunday weather was challenging and the steady and heavy rain drove attendance down.
