NASHUA, NH – The 2024 Friends of the Nashua Library annual Spring Book Sale is underway this weekend, continuing Sunday.
The Friends of the Nashua Public Library is a nonprofit whose mission is to encourage public support for and interest in the Nashua Public Library. The all-volunteer organization holds the book sale to raise funds for library services and programs. The funds they raise add to the municipal spending and philanthropic donations that make up the library budget.
This year’s book sale is on track to raise more than the nearly $25,000 generated by the 2023 sale. Given the Friday pre-sale and the volume so far today, the organization’s president Judy Blachek says she’s confident they might hit the $30,000 mark repeating the pattern of continued growth every year of the sale.
The sale is staffed by a team of about 25 volunteers who are on hand guiding customers and handling stocking and sales. This year’s team includes students from both Nashua North and South high schools. It is a definite all-hands-on-deck operation given the volume of books and the crowds of shoppers.
The sale continues tomorrow March 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at NPL. The Friends of the Nashua Library also operate the Booktique located near the elevator. Stocked with a nice assortment of gently used books available for sale year-round. This summer they will be holding a Pop-Up Book Sale
